The Macromarketing Society, Inc. grew out of the Macromarketing seminars which have been held since 1974. The first seminar was organised by Charles Slater, with George Fisk, Charles Goldman and others taking a leading role from the early days.
The annual seminar has seen scholars, policy makers and practitioners meet to further research on the eclectic range of topics covered by the interface between marketing and society, meeting in a variety of developed and developing countries around the world. Macromarketing is not concerned with increasing profits, it is concerned with improving the quality of life through a better understanding of the impacts, both positive and negative, of the market system.
The Macromarketing Society provides a place for this work with a focus on publishing in the Journal of Macromarketing, the journal of the Society.
